Celebrating 240 years
with Melissa White, British mural artist

In her studio in Hastings on the Sussex coast, artist Melissa White is working
on a mural to tell the brand’s 240-year history.

The world’s oldest factory still in operation is surrounded by the rolling hills,
lush green pastures and beautiful streams of the Lee Mills landscape.

Melissa visited the factory and stayed there for several days.
There were many discoveries, as she would later state,
“ The whole process of creating the mural started on this trip.”

In order to portray the history of the brand, it was essential for Melissa to
tell not only the big stories, but also the little ones that only her employees
would know.
